Overview

  • What is the project about?

    This project asks users to upload and share photographs and videos of their experience of the earthquake and life in the earthquake-stricken areas. The submitted photographs and videos will then be made accessible to the public on this site. All images, videos and comments submitted through this site will be marked with the tag “MIRAIKIOKU” and made accessible globally. Anyone will be allowed to use and process the images and videos. Users can also participate in the project by adding the tag “MIRAIKIOKU” to their photographs on Picasa or videos on YouTube.

  • What kind of images and videos are you looking for?

    Users are asked to submit photographs and videos, which will be displayed on this site. Some examples are:
    - Images of towns before the earthquake
    - Images showing current state of earthquake-stricken areas and their recovery progress

    We are also asking users to submit potential themes that represent their thoughts and hopes.

  • How long will this project be carried out?

    There is no end date set at this time.

General questions

  • Is the project linked to Google Street View?

    Not at this time.

  • I found an inappropriate image.

    Please use the “report” button in the image details page to report any inappropriate images.

  • How can I delete data that has been uploaded?

    You can delete images through the “miraikioku” folder created in your Picasa account.

  • Who retains the copyrights of submitted images?

    The copyrights of the images and videos are handled according to the Picasa and YouTube regulations.

  • I want to submit images and videos but do not want my account made public.

    Submitted content is displayed with the submitter’s account info.

  • I want to save an image and use it on my blog. Is that possible?

    The copyrights of uploaded images belong to the person who submitted them. Therefore, the images cannot be used without permission from the submitters. Images submitted using the creative commons license, however, may be used in some circumstances. For details, please see:

Uploading

  • The maximum number of images and videos the site allows to be uploaded is six. Can the maximum be increased?

    To upload seven or more files, please press the “continue uploading” button and upload repeatedly.

  • How many images and videos can be uploaded?

    There is no limit.
    The capacity of savable data is in accordance with the specifications of Picasa and YouTube.

  • How do I connect images/videos I submitted previously to Picasa/YouTube to the solicitation theme?

    You can connect the images and videos with the theme by setting tags provided in association with the solicitation theme. Tags can be placed through the details page of individual images and videos on Picasa and YouTube respectively.

  • I found an image with a strange date.

    Please use the “report” button in the image details page to report any inappropriate images.

Comments

  • Can submitters accept or reject comments left by others on the images/videos they submitted?

    Not at this time.

  • How do I delete a comment I wrote?

    Comments are saved in the details page of images in Picasa and videos in YouTube and can be deleted there.
    (Note: Specifications made on Picasa and YouTube may affect whether links to individual details pages on Picasa and YouTube are placed on the corresponding page.)

Videos

  • The video will not play.

    Please check your browser settings and make sure that you have Macromedia Flash Player installed and Java Script enabled.
    If Macromedia Flash Player is installed and Java Script is enabled and the video still will not play, go to [Tools] –> [Internet options] –> [Delete file] –> [Delete all offline content]. If the video still does not play, please try using a different browser.

Contacting users

  • How can I contact an individual user?

    If the user has made his or her e-mail address public in their account information, you can reach them there.

Regarding copyright

  • I found an image/video I uploaded on someone else’s account.

    Please use the “report” button in the image details page to report any inappropriate images. Please also make sure that your image/video is defined as “creative commons”.
